Dave Winer leads the discussion on a new way of linking in tweets, such as [photo|bit.ly/DMhr]. (Go read Dave’s short post or this won’t make much sense.)
Would it be worth a few false positives to save one more character by writing it as photo(bit.ly/DMhr)? You could save another with photo|bit.ly/DMhr, but the former seems more readable to me.
Update: Of course, now that I’ve clicked “publish”, I recognize the problem. You wouldn’t be able to write multi-word links, but you would with [Dave Winer's method|bit.ly/DMhr].
